We stumbled upon the store by chance, but we didn’t regret it. They have a huge selection of CDs and vinyls. Prices are average; some items are a bit pricey, but overall, considering the selection, the prices are good. The staff was friendly. After buying two vinyls and a CD, I even got a 4 EUR discount. After asking, I was even allowed to take photos of the store. I recommend this approach to all the tourists who like to take photos. You walk in, say hello, make a purchase, then ask and take photos. It’ll work. :)

the owner is rude because he is trying to rip you off on vinyl pricing. noticed that they priced amy winehouse (new, 2007 issue) €5 higher than concerto. didn’t think much of it. thought it was neat they have shirts and a big section of death metal, so took a photo of that section to send to someone to encourage a visit to the shop. owner came over and said no photos. ok, weird but understood. i was discussing the selection in the store over texts and listening to my music (so looking at my phone). he then came over and said: i asked you two times, no telephone. you go. no discussion. cool, i left. p.s. internet, here are the two photos i took.

I was impressed by the selection of relatively mainstream death and black metal on vinyl: Dark Tranquility, Cryptopsy, Cannibal Corpse, Dimmu Borgir, Nile, Immortal, Aborted, … spent two hours digging through those overpacked shelves. prices are average if you use discogs as a benchmark without shipping costs. No digital catalogue, though.

Great selection of vinyls, across different genres. Closes early but still worth visiting.

For those of us who enjoy listening to vinyl records, we know that going to record stores is a little bit of a hunt: you never know what you'll find or even if you'll find something that you want to purchase. There's a lot of vinyls on display and a wide range of genres, you're bound to find at least one record of your liking. Big rock, metal, and punk sections. The store owner was relaxed while we browsed, and we purchased a great record that doubles as a fun Amsterdam memory

Always liked their music and coffee, you can taste the richness in the beans. Good to a catchup and conversation too, or just quietly enjoying your time in the cafe listening to good records and browsing through all the books and magazines. The guy runs by himself can recommend records for you too. Don't bring a laptop but a tablet and drawing was ok.

It's a gem, a great place in the center to escape. But it's a record store with a great selection and a owner with a great attitude who does what he wants and wants what he does. Go there to spent your money and share the love.

Cool and quirky cafe with good quality coffee. They have lots of records and vinyls too aswell as a few board games. Wish there was more seating !

Absolutely loved my latte - the coffee was so smooth and aromatic. I can see why it was highly recommended by several coffee websites and bloggers. I wish we had this great quality tasting coffee back home. The coffee shop vibe is also so unique and trendy with the music and huge collection of vinyl records.

My favorite store in Amsterdam. Great selection of electronic music with an emphasis on ítalo kind of sound. But not exclusively. If you are DJing house/techno/electro this store is a must! Also the staff is super friendly, so just go there!

Impressive range of stock & super-friendly owner. One of the best places for electronic music in the city. Genres covered across the spectrum, from Italo & edits to house & techno. Gave me a free tote as well. Will definitely be back when I'm next over. Go visit, you won't be disappointed.

Despite the reviews I read about this store, the lady was exceptionally kind to me. She understood perfectly what I was looking for, and I got an excellent record. We had time for a great conversation about music and life. Don't pay attention to the reviews; she does an excellent job and DOES speak English. Go prepared with some cash, as she doesn't accept cards. PS. In which other store will they have a Bottesini section?

Don’t go into this store unprepared. This is not the type of record store where you can have a look around and, if anything catches your attention, consider buying something (what I’d consider a normal store, before this experience). The owner simply won’t have it. If you walk in without a clear intention to buy a specific record, she will nag you until you forget why you even thought of going in. Very bizarre experience, but perhaps she may be helpful if you are looking for something in particular and won’t waste too much of her time?

went to this store twice over the course of roughly a month, the selection seems very interesting and extensive however the lady running the store is very rude and will nag you incessantly as you browse the store. if you do not speak dutch you can also expect a comment from her about it. she asked if there were still cd stores "where we came from" and i got racist vibes its like ehhh dont give money to that person

This is a great shop. Fantastic collection of contemporary classical and folklore cds and dvds. Owner is slightly formidable but knows her stuff. - including the birthdays of most composers - and if you buy a 'birthday' cd you will get a discount. Once she has worked out what sort of music you are interested in she will make suggestions for other records you will like. It's less a shop than an education.

Just been to this store situated in the Zeedijk neighbourhood. Unlike lots of music stores this one used the space quite well. Everything was in order and had its place. The owner Jasper friendly and approachable was centre stage . Two listening booths ready for the songs you not quite sure about. I picked some great tracks . The prices were quite reasonable your on a budget then it may not be for you. If your after hard to find Northern soul funk and beats the door is open. Worth a look if your in the neighbourhood.

Great little store! Managed to pull a nice stack of used vinyl gems out of there. Owner was great - caught him stepping out for lunch, but he came back in and let us dig. Hope you got a sandwich eventually!! :)

Amazing record store in Amsterdam, probably the biggest one in town. They have a huge selection of records, posters and such memorablia with friendly staff. Some of the prices were a bit steep but you can always find records with affordable pricetags.

Really nice musicstore, with a very wide range of artists. Also second hand items available. Different formats; vinyls, cd’s, posters (music and film), and a cute cafe with seating available. Staff in the store was in my personal experience not very nice, but in the cafe they were.

Wow.. unbelievable temple for music lovers, hundreds thousands of vinyls and cds( as well as dvds and books mostly related to music) .. their prices are not the cheapest but its really worth.. big thanks to those guys..

I’m so glad I crossed paths with Concerto. It’s my happy place in Amsterdam, where I’ve discovered new music and found LPs from my favorite musicians. They have a huge selection of records, the staff are lovely, and the vibe is truly something else. Still one of the best record stores in town (maybe even in the world!)

A brilliant record shop with a huge selection, including both new and second-hand records. There’s also a café where you can have a coffee, so it’s the perfect place to spend a few hours. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the shop is well-organised and tidy. Prices, on the other hand, can sometimes be a bit on the high side, but you can often find a good bargain, especially in the second-hand section. I come here often, will definitely keep doing so, and would certainly recommend the shop!

Vast selection of records with lots of gems. You can find some collectible hip hop records too. Prices are reasonable. Very helpful and friendly guy at the counter turns visiting this shop to astonishing experience. Absolute MUST when in Amsterdam.

stumbled upon this store after seeing some 5€ vinyl’s out front. they have a really great selection of records ranging from cheaper to pricier ones and the guy workint was very friendly. would reccomend checking it out if your ever around

Amazing service and super friendly! I was looking for a specific artist that wasn’t in stock at the time. The very kind owner offered to find/order it for me, and he did! I just picked it up and I’m so happy. Great experience, and now I know exactly where to go to grow my collection.

My absolute favorite store in all of Amsterdam. The staff is incredibly friendly and the store is a giant goldmine of little treasures. You can get lost in this place for hours. Such a comfortable and genuine atmosphere, you can really tell this store is run with a passion for music!

Tons of CDs, but I was there for vinyl. Not a quality selection of records. Wouldn't return.

I was looking for Blu-Rays in a mostly records only shop and came away pleasantly surprised at the massive range of music in almost every genre and on every format. It's a bit of a walk from Amsterdam Central but given the area and the scenery it's worth the adventure and worth spending some of your money here.

It may have once been an excellent record store. Now it’s a huge room where the owner has piled up a staggering number of boxes, which - hopefully - contain vinyl records. As you try to squeeze your way through, you find yourself praying that nothing will fall on you. This isn’t a store, but a warehouse that’s practically impassable - though I’ve been to plenty of warehouses before... none of them were like this. It’s good for a laugh... that’s all.

So much selection, but check on discogs and order there, in less then a day usually you will be able to pick it up in store. The man running the store is lovely, obviously loving what he does. Supporting it makes me happy!

I’m not even sure how to review this. They have a massive stock, looks like it’s in good condition mostly. The big downside though is that it’s really not practical at all to go through it. Most of it is in boxes and pilled over itself. The owner is very helpful though. Maybe you just have to go there with lots of time or as others have said, just check their Discogs store.

Fantastic record shop where the word digging gains true meaning. Full and messy, box, crates, and a lot of genres, this is at the same time a shop and a warehouse. I am impressed how Amond always finds his way around.

Good record shop in Amsterdam! It has a great variety of electronic music and many more other genres and styles.It’s a cosy space that has a nice basement with a lot of bins filled with new stuff and second hand gems. The prices aren’t that bad considering most things are crazy expensive in Amsterdam. I went on 2 separate days, both at the evening and it was pretty busy, the stuff is super friendly and they told me to go during the morning instead

I absolutely love this place! They have a wide selection of records both nee and old, ranging from house, techno, trance, electro and everything in between. They even have a dedicated crate called "diggers heaven" and trust me, it is! Go dig inside of there! The owner is super sympa! I will be back, sending lots of regarda from Croatia!

Nice DJ record store. Must have the most turntables I've ever seen in a store. Never wait to play one of your soon to be purchases! Mostly DJ/dance/hiphop genres, but also a smaller rock section up front. Worth a visit!

Platypus Record Shop is a gem of a record store in the heart of Amsterdam❤️ Great selection of vinyl records combined with warm, friendly and knowledgeable employees makes this record store an absolute must visit if you are in the city center. We were recommended Surf Rap by Skurt Kobain amongst several other albums and Surf Rap has become one of our favorite records of all time. And when the owner decided to gift us a very cool limited edition poster, you know you have a friend for life🥰 Thanks for the good talk, excellent vinyl records and amazing looking poster. This is my go to spot for good CD’s. They refresh their stock very often, and if you miss out on classic CD’s, they’ll most likely restock it after a while. They specialise most in black music, hip-hop, r&b. My favorite place I love you guys.

Little record store with some interesting local electronica and jazz finds. The two guys that are running the store are absolute delight, we chatted for a while and they generously gifted us some Alchemist posters. Great place!

Most diverse record store I've been so far. Nice atmosphere and a good vibration! Well selected music from all around the world by two chill dudes with an incredible knowledge of music! I always find dope records which I didn't know about! Must see if you want to explore different music with a deep soul!

Great selection of used records for 5-10€ and the owner played all kinds of nice music. It's impossible to get into the shop for a lot of people, as you have to climb down very steep and narrow stairs.

I've been here twice, but the most recent visit was incredibly uncomfortable. While browsing and discussing the music (apparently too honestly for their liking), the vibe from the staff shifted from cold to outright hostile. I was given dirty looks and then actually approached by someone telling me my outfit a battle vest and bullet belt "isn't allowed" in the Netherlands. I'm Dutch and was raised here, so being lectured on what I can wear in my own country felt targeted and borderline discriminatory. The person at the register was equally unfriendly. It's a weirdly elitist environment. They have the Warhol banana on the wall, but they clearly don't understand the spirit of the underground or the fact that people are allowed to have strong opinions on records. If you aren't dressed exactly how they want, or if you dare to have a "loud" opinion, they make it clear you aren't welcome.

So many records to check out, there wasn't the dark side of the moon, which I wanted to buy so bad. Very good prices and he also helped me find some Golden Earring records.

I was here a few months ago, and it was the awesomest experience!!! I bought a mac demarco and the cure vinyl. Was pretty affordable and they really had everything you wished for :D I’m really happy with my purchase

A really great store, with a fantastic inventory of both albums and singles, fair prices also. Only bugbear was the worker couldn't wait to get home, it was like being a Masterchef contestant. Around 30 mins before closing, got reminders every 3 minutes or so that they were closing. Then at 18:00:00 we were kicked out. Wouldn't let that worry, would certainly go back.

An excellent selection of new and used vinyl across many genres at a reasonable price. You could spend a long time in here digging through all the sections. The film posters at the back are great. Easy to get to. Well worth visiting.

Very nice collection of 45s. There were also some amazing jazz LPs, collectable stuff that I've never seen anywhere. Prices were a bit high, but then this is rare stuff! I didn't even get to the bargain basement! Will definitely head back.

Go here if you're in need of abuse. My gosh, what miserable, unfriendly people. I went last week and received a pretty cold reception from whomever was working there. No big deal. I went back today to buy a record I found last week. I arrived 20 minutes to 6 pm. The store was closed, contrary to the website, which says 6 pm closing time. The salesperson was still inside. I waited and he eventually came to the door, opened it, and when I tried to explain that I needed 1 minute to buy a record, he barked, WE'RE CLOSED! I tried to point out that it was still 5:45, but he slammed the door in my face. Not sure which bothers me more: pissy customer service or incorrect shop hours. I made a trip for nothing. At least he got home early on a Saturday night.

The best store in Amsterdam for electronic, avant-garde, and experimental vinyl. Fair prices. A couple turntables to check out LPs. Highly recommend.

February was my first time, right during the grand opening of Rush, and I absolutely love the concept! I've been working out at Rush for months now; it's a fantastic gym with great instructors, an amazing community, and a wonderful atmosphere. Once you're done, you can take a shower and hit the recovery zone to cool down with a delicious protein shake. My favorite is the Green Rush shake! highly recommended! Chase the Rush!

I went to a workout session with a friend and it was a great experience. The place is very nice and has everything you need, including massage chairs. Alessia was also super helpful and kind.

My wife sat down on an empty chair outside of the shop while I went inside to have a look. She was chased away by an old, rude, and drunk(?) employee(?). The other employee inside the shop brushed off a question I had with an unfriendly shrug. Shop smells like cigarettes. Not recommended.

It is a lovely place if Your a músic collector, in my last visit from Spain to The Netherlands I wanted to have a look at the Chris' store there. He let me know He had about five thousand vinyls at home and we had Talk for a while about blues músic, I bought a few records, Dr. Hook, Jeff Beck and the band Alameda from Andalucía. I recommended as He IS a great guy and was a pleasure to meet his store, I Will come back in my Next visit to Amsterdam. Regards

Came to buy a Harry Styles vinyl and they were giving out free posters with a purchase. The store has a very big selection of vinyls and cd’s, they also have a lot of posters in stock ahead of the concert. The owner was very sweet and I can not recommend this place more!

Went to this store today because they posted on Instagram that with every Harry Styles or One Direction album purchase you get a free Harry Styles poster. We spent over an hour getting there only to find out they had no posters left and almost no albums available either. The woman working there was kind and polite, so this review is definitely not about her. The problem is that if the posters were already gone, they should’ve updated that on Instagram too, instead of letting people come all the way there for nothing. As Harry Styles fans, we came specifically because of that post, so the whole experience ended up being really disappointing and honestly just a waste of time. P.S. It should also be noted that, as mentioned previously, the lady working in the store was very friendly. However, this does not change any of the facts described above. In addition to the missing posters, the records that had previously been advertised on Instagram were also not available. As the lady explained, only a few copies of the Harry's House album were left. It was also explained that the delivery had been delayed, which is certainly unfortunate and not the employee’s fault. However, from a customer’s perspective, this should not be something they have to deal with, as it shifts the focus away from the main issue. It would have been enough to inform fans about the situation on Instagram in advance, so they could decide for themselves whether it was still worth visiting the store. The biggest disappointment was the fact that the Instagram posts created certain expectations which, unfortunately, did not match the actual situation in the store. It is sincerely hoped that future Instagram posts will be more transparent and fair towards potential customers, allowing fans to make an informed decision before visiting and to know what they can realistically expect. In recognition of the employee’s kindness the original review will be adjusted to two stars. However, the review itself will not be deleted, as everything described did in fact happen exactly as stated. The purpose of the review is not to harm the employees or busines, but to honestly reflect the customer’s experience and point out an issue so that similar situations can hopefully be avoided in the future.

Wonderful shop and has a wide selection of music. I often come here for kpop albums since they come in perfect quality and the price is reasonable. The staff here are also very helpful and friendly. Although I’d love it if you guys could sell more itzy albums!!

Very nice staff and very good kpop selection. Only thing i would point out is the fact that you can’t figure out (on your own) which one are second hand. The vinyl selection is very affordable and cool!

A small record store in the city center. They have a large selection of funk, soul, R&B, and related genres. They also have a smaller selection of rock, indie, and punk. The prices are a bit high, but considering the location and the large number of tourists, they’re reasonable. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything that suited me.

Huge collection of funk, RnB/soul, latin-jazz, and hip-hop. Also the only shop I’ve been to that sells Foo Fighters and Alice in Chains. A bit overpriced but reasonable considering supply and demand (bought a foo fighters album and I’ve never seen them in any other record store so low supply and some demand.) This is in my 3 standard record stores where I go to when searching for vinyl. Number 1 even. Also the owner is really nice and helpfull. And he always plays amazing records in the store itself. Helps me find more music.

No one likes being treated like a thief. Especially someone who has bought records numerous times from your store. A simple 'can you leave your bag at the front' would have been better than snatching it away from me without a word. Reply to owner: apparently I'm supposed to have superpowers and be able to hear while I have headphones on. Will not return here.

Great selection by the owner, and Sunday staff is super kool. Bought 4 for the price of 3, and got s total of 32 records all for under a total of 200 Euros. Will go back to dig more vinyl tomorrow and/or the day I fly to Dublin.

ZAP Records represents the full glamorous 80s-90s vinyl addiction experience: it's feels and smells like that store you see as a reference for every member of your family. Cozy and aesthetically pleasing vinyl store with a great range of albums distributed over two floors. They have new and old music and the condition of the products is held high. The location is also great. Definitely check it out!

A great place to explore different types of electronic music while listening to a live performance from one of his students. Definitively coming back for more!

Advertised specialty coffee on the sign outside but it's more a vinyl store. I came for coffee and it was disappointing served in a paper cup from a small espresso machine. The do seem to have normal ceramics but I didn't get one.
